Dangote Refinery Officials Deny Shutdown Rumors, Assure Fuel Supply Stability

Amid circulating reports suggesting a shutdown of the Dangote Refinery's, company officials have firmly refuted the claims, calling them false and misleading. The refinery, which recently began operations, continues to function smoothly and has recently supplied 43.3 million liters of gasoline, reinforcing its role in stabilizing Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.


Officials emphasized that no operational halt has occurred and that the misinformation is fueling unnecessary panic and speculation in the downstream sector. These shutdown rumors reportedly contributed to increased depot prices, sparking concerns over potential fuel scarcity and retail price hikes.


The management reiterated that this is not the first time false reports have negatively impacted market behavior. In previous instances, similar misinformation led to volatility in consumer perception, with some marketers hoarding or adjusting prices based on inaccurate projections.


The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to transparent operations and consistent supply, warning against media manipulation that undermines economic confidence. They called on stakeholders and the public to rely only on official updates regarding refinery performance.


As Africa’s largest refinery, the Dangote Refinery plays a crucial role in Nigeria’s fuel independence and market regulation. Any false claims surrounding its operations could ripple across the entire West African energy market.
