Authorities in Zimbabwe Recover 22 More Bodies from Lake Kariba, Death Toll Reaches 68

Authorities in Zimbabwe have announced that a rescue team recovered 22 additional bodies from Lake Kariba today, Saturday. This tragic development further deepens the sorrow of the nation following the capsize of a boat in the same vast lake last week.

The announcement indicates that with this new batch of recovered bodies, the total death toll from the disaster has now risen to 68 people. This incident stands as one of the major water transportation tragedies in the region in recent years, leaving many families in deep grief and mourning for their lost loved ones.

Currently, security and rescue personnel are continuing their search and rescue operations in the lake, despite facing challenges such as weather conditions and the vastness of the area, to ensure that anyone believed to be on the boat at the time of the accident is accounted for. Authorities hope to uncover more details as investigations progress in the Kariba region.

Furthermore, the government and other relevant agencies have launched a thorough investigation to determine the causes of the boat capsize.
